The council issued the order after Tanjung Bungah assemblyman Teh Yee Cheu launched an inquiry into the moving and piling of boulders in the area.
Teh had claimed that the developer only applied for the earthwork permit to develop the land and this did not include moving the boulders to a neighbouring lot, some distance away from the project.
“The council told me they issued a stop-work order on June 28 under the Penang earthwork by-law 1975, against the developer following an inspection,” Teh told reporters at the site where the boulders were piled up yesterday.
